Dr. Vinay Eligar brings 18+ years of experience as a Consultant Endocrinologist. He joined Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) in October 2022. He has extensive expertise in the management of various endocrine disorders. Dr. Eligar obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from, India, in 1999. He completed his Doctor in Internal Medicine (M.D.) at Bangalore Medical College, India, in 2003. Dr. Eligar also completed his specialisations in internal medicine in 2007 and Diabetes and Endocrinology in 2009 from the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), in London, United Kingdom. He was granted a FRCP in 2018 from the Royal College of Physicians London, United Kingdom, recognising his clinical and academic contributions. Prior to joining ICLDC, Dr. Eligar spent his early career in Cardiff, UK, at the University Hospital of Wales and Cardiff Bay Hospital where he served as a Consultant Diabetes and Endocrinology. He is specialised in managing complex Type 2 diabetes, weight and obesity management, Type 1 diabetes including insulin pump therapy, thyroid & endocrine conditions and lipid disorders. Dr Eligar is active in teaching and is the Course Director for the Master of Science (MSc) in Diabetes, at the University of South Wales, UK. Dr. Eligar has published work in several international journals and written book chapters on thyroid and diabetes-related conditions. He continues to be an active researcher, looking into subjects related to thyroid and genetics.
